Revamped, repaired and beautified Sursagar pond inaugurated in Vadodara

Vadodara: As Union Home minister Amit Shah had to cancel his Gujarat visit for undisclosed reasons, the revamped Sursagar pond was inaugurated by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani who was anyway going to attend the inauguration function with Amit Shah.
Rupani inaugurated the pond revamped, repaired and beautified by Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) at a cost of Rs. 35 crore.
Sursagar has Sarveshwar Mahadev statue standing tall in the middle of waters. Rupani and other dignitaries along with common citizens performed Maha Shivratri evening aarti of Shiva on this occasion.
Sursagar pond was earlier famous as Chandan talavdi. Later it was named after one Sureshwar Desai.
The Chief Minister felicitated artist Naresh Mathuram who created a tall idol of Shiva (Sarveshwar Mahadev) in the middle of Sursagar pond.
Rupani during his visit to Vadodara also attended a function in connection with annual Shiv Savari procession marking Maha Shivratri festival.
