Khambhat: Central Gujarat town Khambhat is observing strike today. The strike call has been given by Hindu organizations against attacks, loot, arson targeting Hindus by mobs of Muslims.

There’s boiling anger among Hindus of Khambhat, especially those living in Bhavsarvad and Tilakpur areas of town where Muslims created terror in the afternoon on Sunday.

MLA Mahesh Raval said this has happened again in Khambhat. Hindu area of Bhavsarvad was attacked, vehicles were burnt, valuables were looted from inside the homes.

Local MP Patel who was in Delhi to attend a parliamentary committee meeting said, ‘this has happened second or third time in a month. I had visited the areas on Sunday evening. Town-wide attacks, especially in Bhavsarvad area seem conspiracy. I have made a representation in government. I also held a meeting with police. Yesterday, some of anti-social elements involved in Sunday’s violence were caught also by police.

Police has filed four FIRs.

On Sunday while Police force was busy preparing for Donald Trump visit in Ahmedabad, rioters went on rampage in Akbarpur, Lal Darwaja, Bhavsarvad, Bhoibari, Pith Bazar etc areas. Police jawan Lakshmanbhai Talpada was attacked with iron rode by rioters.

According to police head constable Dharmendrasinh Bhimsinh, on Sunday, Muslim mobs attacked Hindu community’s houses in Bhavsarvad. More Muslim mobs rushed there from Pirajpur and Tran Limdi areas. Hindu temple was vandalized and vehicles of Hindus were burnt. Later stone pelting took place between mobs of both communities. A mob of around 1200 Muslims with arms from Kajiwad, Panch hatdi, Dadiba, Tran limdi etc pockets entered Hindu houses and set the houses to fire. Police lobbed over 30 tear gas shells to control the mobs.

Police has identified some of accused involved. They are Sarfarazkhan alias Bablu Yusufkhan Pathan, Sohail alias Kanto Sarfaraz Saiyad, Safdar Hussain Zahir Hussain Sheikh Muhammad Hanif alias Barfan Sheikh, Mohsin Khan alias Chor Yusuf Khan Pathan, Moinuddin Gulam Hussain Badshah, Moinuddin Badruddin Sheikh among others.

One person namely Vinod Chavda dead in firing. Chavda was sitting in rickshaw when a bullet killed him. According to rickshaw driver, it was a police firing. Rickshaw driver said, police fired in air first and then targeted a rickshaw in which Chavda was sitting. Alert rickshaw driver drove rickshaw with injured Chavda straight to the hospital.

Akash Chunara, a person from Tapasvinagar suffered burn injury due to acid bulb attack.

Local Hindus seek Disturbed Area Act to be imposed immediately in the town. They also seek strict policing and actions against those involved in the attacks.
