Ahmedabad under partial lockdown; City police commissioner warns action against offenders

Amdavad: City police commissioner Ashiah Bhatia today said, even rickshaws and cabs including those under Ola/Uber are not allowed to operate during partial lockdown in the city.
The State government has put Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Gandhinagar, Rajkot and Kutch under partial lockdown till March 25, implementation of which begins today.
Bhatia said, while intra-state commercial vehicular movement related restrictions are effective till March 25, interstate orders for the same will continue to be effective till 31st of March. The government has banned movements of passenger buses, contract carriages, stage carriages taxi cabs and maxi cabs. Goods vehicles, personal use vehicles, and vehicles used for maintaing essential emergency services and vehicles on government duty are allowed to move.
Bhatia said police has started detaining vehicles in cases of violations since 10 am today.
He said assembling of more than four persons is also prohibited.
Bhatia said, three FIRs are registered in Ghatlodia, Maninagar and Odhav areas over breach of quarantine orders. Police teams have been handed over responsibility to check whether those under quarantine are following rules and maintaining prescribed protocols. Police vehicles keep visiting their locations and if violation is found, health officer is called and offense is registered.
Bhatia said, the city is presently under partial lockdown but if situation worsens, then it can be eventually put under full lockdown. At the same time, if situation improves, relaxations are also expected.
