Surat: A group of construction labourers protested and pelted stones at the office of Dream City Diamond Bourse in Surat, alleging that they were made to work amid Coronavirus Lockdown. Workers also demanded that they be sent back to their native places. This is not first time that they have staged violent protest. Earlier too the labourers had created ruckus over demand to go back to their native places. It’s worth noting that the State government has permitted construction to go ahead with conditions applied. Target date to complete the construction work of Diamond Bourse was December this year. However due to lockdown, the target date is pushed to first quarter of next year. If labourers leave the site for their native place and don’t return soon, the project may further delay.
