Police solve Surat Thai Spa Girl’s mysterious death case; she was murdered by her Thai friend

Surat: Surat Police has solved the case of mysterious death of a 27-year old Thai Spa girl Vanida. Victim girl’s friend and co-worker Thak girl Aida has confessed she burnt Vanida alive. Police has held Aida and tested her for Covid-19 before arrest.
Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Tomar addressing media persons here today said that the incident took place early in the morning on September 6 in Umra police station area. Burnt dead body of Thai citizen Vanida who is presently in India on tourist visa was found from a rented room of her. When questioned, Vanid’s friends and others told police that her golden chain and two mobile phones were missing from the spot. Total cost of phones was Rs 1 lakh while golden chain was worth Rs. 25,000.
In CCTV footage and technical surveillance, it was found that Vanida’s friend Aida was there with Vanida in the room that night and both had consumed liquor and fish. Aida was living in a home nearby to Vanida’s place. During questioning, Police found Aida’s statements different and doubtful. On the other hand, Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and electric company experts also concluded that fire in Vanida’s room was not accidental and certainly not due to short circuit. On the basis of these leads, Surat Police filed a case of murder on 11 September.
Police has now found Vanida’s gold chain in possession of accused Aida. When Vanida’s dead body was found from a room, the door was locked from outside. A key of this lock has been found in possession of Aida.
According to Police, Aida had visited Vanida’s house that night and both had consumed hookah and liquor. When Aida found that Vanida was almost down after consuming hookah and liquor, she choked her to death using pillow and blanket and fled with Vanida’s phones and gold chain. After a while she returned to Vanida’s room and burnt her dead body using lighter with support of cotton pillows, blanket etc.
Aida can comfortably converse in Thai language only. She is less comfortable with English. Police had to rope in a translator for questioning of Aida.
After murder, Aida had contacted a rickshaw driver. She was known to this rickshaw driver as she would chose to travel in this particular rickshaw only. Aida had handed over a plastic bag t this rickshaw driver and told him that there was some waste items in this bag which he should disposs off in some dustbin. Rickshaw driver however took the bag to his home. His wife when opened the bag, found blankets and a pillow in it. She also found two mobile phones in this pillow. The rickshaw driver contacted Umra Police and shared this information. Police concluded that two mobile phones belonged to Vanida. This helped police in concluding that Aida was a culprit.
Aida told police that she committed this crime as she was in need of money and her visa was expiring. Both Aida and Vanida were working as therapists in a SPA outlet in ISKON mall.
