Gujarat CM announces Rs. 3700 crore package for assistance to farmers hit by excess rains

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Rupani today in the State assembly announced Rs. 3700 crore package for around 27 lakh farmers who are hit by excess rains in the month of August of current monsoon season. Farmers who suffered 33 per cent or more damages in crops will get Rs. 10,000 per hectare relief for maximum 2 hectares of land. For however little size of land he/she owns, a farmer beneficiary of this package, will get at least Rs. 5,000 assistance under this package. 37 lakh hectare land across 123 talukas in 20 districts will be suitable for this assistance scheme for which online applications can be filed with effect from 1st October on a yet to be launched dedicated portal. Farmers can visit e-gram centres and file applications. The government will bear the expenses of online applications. Payment of assistance amount will be done through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode. More talukas are to be covered under this relief package if damages to crops come to light. DeshGujarat
