Cancer and Kidney hospitals to have Covid wards again: Rupani on govt response to increase in Covid cases in Ahmedabad

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in a reply to a question asked by media persons today morning said that Kidney hospital and Cancer hospital in Asarwa civil hospital campus will have arrangement of Covid beds again in order to attend more number of COVID-19 patients.

Covid beds were arranged in these two hospitals during lockdown in order to treat more number of patients. However later when the number of new cases reduced, this arrangement was withdrawn from both hospital.

Rupani in reply to media quety today said, ‘it is obvious that as people are in mobility during Diwali festival and some crowding has also been noticed, there’s possibility of increase in the number of COVID-19 cases. Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel who is also State health minister is chairing a review meeting today in order to makes sure availability of more beds, doctors, medicines etc in view of possibility of increase in Covid cases. We are restoring the arrangements of Covid treatment in Kidney hospital and Cancer hospital.’

Rupani added that the doctors are not observing holidays during Diwali due to Covid10 pandemic.

Rupani was in the city for darshan of Goddess Bhadrakali on Gujarati new year day.

Meanwhile, speaking to media persons at Asarwa civil hospital, Nitin Patel said the government will increase the number of beds in case of increase in new cases. Patel rejected any possibility of fresh lockdown.
