418-bed Covid facility at New Kidney Hospital building now ready to serve if required: Nitin Patel

Asarwa: Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel who is also Health minister of the State today told media persons that a new 418 bed facility to treat covid patients is now ready at Manjushri Mill compound based new building of Kidney hospital.

Out of 418 beds, 336 are oxygen beds while 82 are ICU beds with ventilator facility, Patel said.

He added that Ventilators have been arrived three days ago as a gift from PM CARES. He said 150 monitors have also been erected. A 20,000 liter oxygen tank is also functional now for supply of oxygen.

Manjushri mill based new kidney hospital building is 10 lakh square ft, 10 storey facility. Asarwa medicity based Kidney hospital will be shifted to this new building in the first quarter of next calendar year, Patel had said earlier.

Patel said no objection certificate and building use permission from AMC are received.

He said arrangement of doctors and non-medical staff has also been made for new facility.

Patel said, at present Asarwa civil based covid hospital has vacant beds, as the situation which worsen post Diwali and holiday period has come under control in last three days. The new Kidney hospital facility at Manjushri mill compound will be used only if required, he added. DeshGujarat

 

Kidney Hospital Statement:

Institute of Kidney Diseases & Research Centre (IKDRC), popularly known as Kidney Hospital, threw open gates of its new campus for Covid-19 infected indoor patients here on Tuesday in presence of Deputy Chief Minister & State Health Minister Shri Nitinbhai Patel.

Ten lakh square feet new facility located near its old campus in Manjushree Mill Compound has been specially equipped with 336 oxygen beds and 90 ICU beds with ventilatory support to admit Covid-19 infected critical patients.

“Covid facility at Manjushree Mill compound is ready to take indoor patients with 426 beds including 90 ICU beds with ventilatory services to deal with any emergency situation“, Deputy Chief Minister said at the opening of the hospital.

The minister added that Kidney Hospital’s new facility has been planned to treat kidney patients but in the wake of corona pandemic it will cater to Covid patients. He informed that 56 out of 80 ventilators received from Prime Minister’s assistance has been installed at the new facility.

Praising the efforts of the team, Deputy CM said that in record six days, the facility has been commissioned including staffing of specialists doctors, para-medics and support staff.

“We have gathered enough experience and learnings in treating Covid patients with co-morbidities during the first wave of pandemic and ready to treat more number of critical patients with opening of our new facility,” said Dr Vineet Mishra, Director IKDRC-ITS adding that IKDRC is confident to provide best treatment to patient in need of critical care.

IKDRC treated close to 1000 Covid patients since March this year at the start of pandemic in the state. It closed its Covid indoor patient facility in month of July after referrals from 1200 bed Covid facility stopped.
