Gujarat CM inaugurates mega mid-day meals kitchenbuilt by Reliance Foundation in Jamnagar

Jamnagar: Reliance Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), has set up a new mega kitchen building along with all required cooking facilities in Jamnagar for The Akshaya Patra Foundation, a non-government organisation (NGO), which implements the Mid-Day Meal Scheme of the Gujarat government. This new three-storied building was inaugurated by Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Vijaybhai Rupani today. Also present at this inauguration were distinguished dignitaries: Minister of State for Foods and Civil Supplies Shri Dharmendrasinh Jadeja, Member of Parliament from Jamnagar Smt. Poonamben Maadam, MLA from Dhrol Shri Raghavaji Patel , Shri Satish Patel, Municipal Commissioner of Jamnagar Mahanagar Palika, Shri Jaganmohan Krishna Das, President of The Akshaya Patra Foundation, Gujarat and Shri Dhanraj Nathwani, Group President at Reliance Industries Ltd.
This new mid-day meal mega kitchen has capacity to prepare 50,000 meals a day. Reliance Foundation has provided Rs. 8.5 crore for construction of the building, buying all required utensils as well as the vehicles to deliver food to the government and government-aided schools covered under the mid-day meal programme. Reliance Foundation will provide additional Rs. 1 crore for supporting the schools in Jamnagar and Lalpur taluka, located near RIL’s refinery complex.
On this occasion, Shri Parimal Nathwani, Director of Corporate Affairs at Reliance Industries Ltd, said, “It is an honour for all of us that Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Vijaybhai Rupani came down to Jamnagar to inaugurate this new mega kitchen facility. We at Reliance are committed to enhance the quality of life of people from marginalised and vulnerable strata in our society. Children are the future of our nation and it is essential to provide them nutritional food for their holistic development. We are proud to support Government of Gujarat, the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation and The Akshaya Patra Foundation for providing nutritional food to the children.”
