March 24, 2026
Dwarka: A controversy has erupted in Dwarka after serious allegations were made against a professor of Shardapeeth College, run by Shardapeeth Vidyasabha, with Hindu organisations staging protests and demanding his immediate removal. The protesters accused Professor Vankar of making objectionable remarks against Hinduism on social media and creating unrest among students.
The issue surfaced after a social media post allegedly made by the professor went viral, in which he was accused of using objectionable language against Hinduism. Following this, protests were held by Hindu organisations in Mithapur, Suraj Karadi, and other parts of the Okhamandal region.
Members of the Hindu community submitted written representations to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Dwarka as well as the college principal, demanding strict action against the professor and his removal from service. Protesters also alleged that the professor’s remarks created confusion among students and that some students felt mentally pressured.

Girdhar Joshi, a leader of a Hindu organisation in Dwarka, said, “Today we submitted a memorandum to the Prant Officer and also to the college principal against the professor. In the coming days we will approach the university as well. If a person holds anti-Hindu views, then why should he be allowed to continue in a college where 95 per cent of the students belong to the Hindu community? Such a person should not be kept in service.”
A monk, Madhav Swaroop Das, also criticised the professor and demanded action. He said, “This professor is close to retirement and has about a year left in service, but his mentality has come out repeatedly through videos and posts. A teacher should not have hatred against any religion. If a person with such a mindset is teaching students in a college, it cannot be tolerated. The entire Hindu community demands that such a person be removed from here.”
Hindu organisations have warned that if strict action is not taken soon, they will intensify their protest and take the matter to higher authorities, including the university administration. DeshGujarat
