Violence in Viramgam during local polls phase 2

Viramgam: One BJP supporter was seriously injured and taken to local Shiv hospital after attacked in Viramgam today during last two hours of polling for Municipality election.
Viramgam is witnessing polling for municipality election today. While BJP is contesting on all 36 seats, rival Congress party is contesting only on 16 seats. In rest of the seat, independents are main competitors of BJP candiates.
At around 4.00 pm today, clash between two groups outside the polling station at MJ School was seen. BJP supporters present on the spot alleged that local Congress MLA Lakha Bharwad’s aides Satish (Sata), Raju and Kalu Bharwad were leading the attack on BJP supporters using sticks and stone pelting.
BJP supporters present on the spot alleged that Bhardwad’s aides were attempting to do bogus voting which was protested by BJP supporters, following which the attack took place.
Congress MLA Lakha Bharwad meanwhile denied BJP allegations.
The situation was brought back to control soon by police and peace was restored.
Barring this incident, polling across the State for phase-1 and phase-2 overall has remained peaceful. However smaller incidents of clash, booth capturing allegations were reported from various places. Two electronics voting machines (EVM) were broken at Ghodiya school in Jhalod amid allegations of booth capturing. A group clash and stone pelting incident was reported from Palanpur town in Banaskantha district outside the polling station.
