Nirali Cancer Hospital by L&T Chairman AM Naik inaugurated in Navsari

Navsari: Chief Minister of Gujarat, Rupani today inaugurated the Nirali Cancer Hospital at the ‘A.M. Naik Healthcare Complex’, Navsari.

Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the hospital offers comprehensive and affordable cancer care, and will augment and upgrade the services available in the entire region. The hospital has been founded in his personal capacity by philanthropist, Padma Vibhushan awardee and Group Chairman of Larsen & Toubro, Mr. A.M. Naik. The hospital is built in the memory of Mr. Naik’s grand-daughter. Operations at the hospital will be carried out by the reputed Apollo CBCC Group, and will cover oncology, diagnostics, nuclear medicine, radiology, and other services such as pain management, physiotherapy, etc.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Naik, said, “I am very happy to be able to contribute to my janmabhoomi. The desire to do something to benefit the community has always been part of my family’s tradition. I believe that if each citizen gives what they can, however little it may be – money, time or expertise – it adds up to vast pool of resources – which can benefit millions across the country.”

Naik, who is ranked as ‘India’s most generous professional manager’ in the EdelGive Hurun India’s Philanthropy List 2020, focusses his philanthropic efforts in the field of healthcare, education and skill-building.

Naik further added, “It gives me immense pleasure that the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri. Vijaybhai Rupani today inaugurated the Nirali Cancer Hospital, to propel our vision to provide patients and their families the assurance of world-class medical service and care. We will continue to serve the community through the Nirali Memorial Medical Trust and walk with them in their fight against cancer. Philanthropy has been part of my family tradition for nearly a century. I am confident my son will take it forward into the future.

The long track record of NMMT includes setting up a multi-diagnostic medical centre in Powai, Mumbai; a radiation centre in Surat and mobile medical units.

Earlier in March, the Vice President of India Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu had laid the foundation stone for the 500-bed Nirali Multi-specialty Hospital which is adjacent to the Cancer Hospital. The hospital, equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities and manned by experienced doctors, will be operational by 2022.

Preetha Reddy – Vice Chairperson Apollo hospitals, Mr. Jignesh Naik – Board Member NMMT, Mr Y S Trivedi, ECom member – Larsen & Toubro and other dignitaries.

About Nirali Memorial Medical Trust:

Nirali Memorial Medical Trust (NMMT) is a public charitable trust founded by A.M. Naik to carry out philanthropic initiatives medical care. Named in the memory of Nirali, granddaughter of Mr Naik who passed away due to cancer at the age of two, NMMT was set up by the Naik family to offer advanced medical care, especially to those who cannot afford quality treatment. The Trust has also set up a facility at Powai in Mumbai, called, ‘A.M. Naik Charitable Health Centre’ that focuses on providing access to best quality medical care to local communities of Mumbai at affordable prices. Mr. Naik’s early healthcare initiatives also included building a new wing – the Nichchhabhai Ratanaji Naik Wing – of the General Hospital at Kharel.

In addition to the medical trust, Mr. Naik has also founded the Naik Charitable Trust, which is focused on imparting quality education and skill-building to the underprivileged.
