Gujarat population at the time of assembly polls 2022 could be 6.67 crore

Gandhinagar: The estimated population of Gujarat will be 6.67 crores at the time of election of legislative assembly in the year 2022 in Gujarat, as per a report released by Population Projection for India and States- 2001 to 2026.
It was estimated in the report that the population of Gujarat is to be 6,61,39,000 in the year 2021. The report stated that the population of India was 132 crores and of Gujarat was 6.55 crores at the end of the year 2020. However, the number of parents with only child has increased to 7 out of 10 which was only 4 out of 10 in the year 2001.
When Gujarat will go for general elections of State assembly next year in December, the population of the State is estimated to be 6,67,74,000, out of which 3,53,81,000 will be males and 3,13,93,000 will be females. Census is held once every 10 years but it was cancelled this time (year 2021) due to Covid-19 pandemic. Population of Gujarat in 2019 was estimated to be 6.48 crores which makes Gujarat 10th state with highest population in the country.
