Relaxations announced in Night curfew hours on Janmashtami and Ganesh Utsav in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: The people in eight cities of Gujarat where covid-19 pandemic linked night curfew is effective daily from 11 pm to 6 am will be allowed to mark Shri Krishna Janma Mahotsav which is celebrated at 12 midnight on Janmashtami.

A core committee meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today took a decision that on 30th August (Janmashtami) night curfew will be effective from 1 am. The temples will be permitted to allow maximum only 200 persons inside at a time. Social distancing related norms will need to be followed. Circles will need to be made on the surface at 2 ft distance. Wearing masks will be mandatory. Janmashtami processions on limited routes will be allowed for maximum 200 persons in each case. Matki fod custom will not be permitted. Traditional fairs on Janmashtami will also not be permitted.

At Sarvajanki Ganesh Utsav venues, maximum 4 ft murti will be allowed while inside the homes only two ft murties will be permitted. SOPs including social distancing and wearing mask will be compulsory. No other associated event will be allowed and only puja, aarti and prashad distribution is allowed.

In order to facilitate darshan during Ganesh Utsav, night curfew will be effective from 12 midnight during 9th to 19th September instead of usual time of start of curfew at 11.00 am.

For visarjan of Ganesh murti, maximum 15 persons will be permitted with only one vehicle.
