Teams initiate drive against illegal water lifting from canal in Maliya-Halvad belt

Morbi: As many as ten teams consisting of the police, revenue department, PGVCL and Narmada Nigam started checking drive along Maliy-Halvad canal in Morbi district to stop the water theft and confiscated 75 submersible pumps and 12 syphons to start with.

They started this drive after complains that water flowing in canal not reaching the distant villages of Maliya taluka despite the availability of a branch canal of Narmada. Local farmers had also presented memorandums to local administration over this issue. It is learnt that the officials will also consider taking legal actions against the responsible persons after confiscating the submersible pumps and syphons. DeshGujarat
