Surat Metro rail will start operating by December 2023

Surat: Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) Standing Committee Chairman Paresh Patel said in a general meeting of SMC that the Metro rail will start functioning in Surat till December 2023.
In the SMC general meeting, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) corporators raised objections regarding the work of the casting yard to be allotted to Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) for 40 months on temporary basis. They raised questions about how much money will be recovered from GMRC by SMC for the land allotted for metro rail.
In reply, standing committee chairman Paresh Patel informed that the work of metro-rail is ongoing in full-fledged way in Surat and the metro-rail will start functioning soon. He said that SMC is to recover 314 percent more amount for land from GMRC. DeshGujarat
