Gandhinagar: Gujarat is on the 16th rank among the states in terms of people serving in the Indian Army with 22,417 Gujarati people serving in Indian Army, as informed by the Defense Ministry in Rajya Sabha.

There are a total 1258 people serving in the Air Force and 625 Gujarati people serving in the Navy. Uttar Pradesh is on the top position with 1.67 people of the state serving in the Indian Army, followed by 89 thousand from Punjab and 87 thousand from Maharashtra.

A total 4583 youth are recruited in the Indian Army from 2018 to 2020. In terms of recruitment of the people in the Indian Army, Gujarat is on the 15th position. A total 2125 youth were recruited in the Indian Army in 2018, 980 in 2019 and 1478 in 2020.

There are a total 31878 ex-army men in Gujarat including the highest ex-army men in Ahmedabad which is 6288. Ahmedabad is followed by 4785 in Vadodara, 1927 in Aravalli, 1913 in Jamnagar, 1852 in Sabarkantha, 1242 in Gandhinagar, 1197 in Mehsana, and 1157 ex-army men in Rajkot. DeshGujarat
