Unjha MLA Ashaben Patel passes away due to multiple organ failure triggered by Dengue

Gandhinagar: Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ashaben Patel from Unjha seat in Mehsana district passed away today. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has condole her death in a message.
Ashaben was in a critical condition after liver damage due to Dengue and multi organ failure subsequently. She was under treatment at Zydus Hospital Ahmedabad.
Former Deputy Chief Minister and Mahesana MLA Nitin Patel said, Ashaben breathed last around noon. He said her mortal remains will be available for public darshan at the market yard of Unjha today evening post 6 pm. He said, her body will be taken to her native village tomorrow and later she will be cremated at Siddhpur.
Former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said, Ashaben was a fighter woman. He said she was an educated lady who worked as professor. She was unmarried and giving full time to public service.
According to Zydus Hospital, Ashaben was admitted to Zydus hospital on Thursday evening due to dengue. She gradually developed multi organ failure. Her heart and lungs had weaked and her lever and kidneys were not functioning. All these organs were functioning on life support system.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel had visited her at Zydus Hospital on Saturday and assured her family members to provide all required help and support. Minister of State Brijesh Merja had also visited her at Zydus Hospital. Former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani who visited hospital said Ashaben’s condition was worrying. Former Dy CM Nitin Patel had also paid visit to the hospital on Saturday.
The State government had yesterday moved a team of expert doctors from Government controlled U.N. Mehta hospital to private run Zydus hospital in attempt to provide further medical assistance to her.
Ashaben was diagnosed with Dengue after having fever on 7th December after she returned from national capital Delhi where she had met several top leaders. She was treated at a local hospital in Unjha for 2 days and later was shifted to Zydus Hospital in Ahmedabad.
BJP MLA Ashaben Patel was elected in state assembly election 2017 from congress party. She later resigned from the congress and joined BJP in 2019. She had achieved victory in the by-election in 2019 with a margin of 23,072 votes.
With her sudden demise, Unjha assembly seat will witness by-poll in next six months. Unjha is considered an assembly seat that elect Kadva Patidar candidates consistently. DeshGujarat
