Gandhinagar Police bring back 15 Gujaratis confined in hotels of Delhi

Gandhinagar: Gandhinagar Police has rescued 15 Gujaratis from the hotels in Delhi from hostage-like situation. A gang operating from Delhi and Kolkata had confined 15 persons from Gujarat including the children for last about two months for want of money. The accused had succeeded to cough up Rs. 2.35 crore so far from the family members of victims back in Gujarat.

The modus operandy of Delhi and Koklata based gang was simple. The local agents in North Gujarat and Ahmedabad would promise to manage illegal entry in America and Canada in exchange of huge sum. Those trapped in these promises would enter into deals worth crores of Rupees. They would be transported to Delhi and Kolkata and handed over to the gang operating there in the name of foreign-entry agents. The foreign entry seekers would be then kept in Delhi and Kolkata for some days. They would be forced later on gun point to tell their family members back in Gujarat over phone call that they reached foreign country safely and smoothly, thanks to the agent. The family members back in Gujarat would be asked therefore to pay the promised amount to the agents. Until the amount is transferred, the aspirants would be kept in confinement in Delhi and Kolkata.

A person from Kharna village near Mansa in North Gujarat complained before the Local Crime Branch of Gandhinagar Police that his son and daughter in law were confined to a place by some gang for last three months.

LCB Police Inspector of Gandhinagar JH Sindhav and Police Sun Inspector SP Jadeja along with other police staff of Gandhinagar reached Delhi and located the family with the help of the Special Cell of Delhi Police to various hotels of Delhi. Those who were freed were from Kharna, Vasai and Ahmedabad in North Gujarat. They were trapped by the gangs that promised them entry in America and Canada in exchange of huge sum of money. Police has revealed a role of a local agent in North Gujarat and detained one Rajesh Natvarlal Patel from Ahmedabad. Police is also probing into possible role of another agent Ramesh Patel who lives in Naroda. Those freed from Delhi are brought back to Gujarat.

The gang operators operating from Delhi and West Bengal are identified as Sunil Roy, Snatosh Roy and Kamal Sindhaniya. It was further revealed that the gang had coughed up Rs. 3.05 crore from those who wanted to enter America and Canada illegally. Mahesana based Mitesh had paid Rs. 1.60 crore. Vijapur based Mit had paied Rs. 40 lakh. Ranip based Akash Patel had paid Rs. 5.35 lakh. New Ranip based Rakesh Patel had paid Rs. 5.30 lakh. Mahesana based Hiral Patel had paid Rs. 2.50 lakh. Mahesana based Rashmika Patel had paid Rs. 2.50 lakh while Mansa based Tejas Patel had paid Rs. 81.09 lakh to fake agents.

One Shitalben and her family members were taken to Kolkata by this gang. Shitalben, her husband and her daughter went to Kolkata. Her one and half year old girl child was taken away by the gang. Shitalben was then asked to manage Rs. 90 lakh payment. She was threatened that if money is not paid, her daughter will be sold to Bangladesh. Shitalben contacted her Vasai based family members who sent Rs. 90 lakh by selling their property. Police has doubt that the gang is also involved in human trafficking. DeshGujarat
