Gujarat court orders death penalty to 38 convicts in 2008 serial blast case

Ahmedabad: A special designated court here has awarded death sentence to 38 convicts and life imprisonment until natural death to 11 in Ahmedabad serial blasts case in which 56 persons were killed and over 200 injured in serial blasts in 2008 in Ahmedabad. 38 accused are sentenced to death under UAPA Act. Govt will pay Rs 50,000 compensation to seriously injured and Rs. 25,000 to minorly injured as per the court verdict. The Court has also ordered Rs. 1 lakh compensation to the deceased. Each accused is fined for Rs. 2,85,000 while accused number seven is fined for Rs. 2,88,000. The order is beyond 7,000 pages. The verdict will go to the Gujarat High Court for approval.

The 11 convicts are punished with lifetime imprisonment till last breath(natural death) are Atikur Rehman (Rajasthan), Rafiuddin Kapadia (Bharuch), Mahendihasan Ansari (Rajasthan), Anik Khalik Saiyad (Pune), Imran Ahmed Pathan (Rajasthan), Mohammad Naushad Saiyad (Karnataka), Mohammad Ali Ansari (Madhya Pradesh), Mohammad Ansar Nadvi (Keral), Mohammad Sadiq Shaikh (Mumbai), Mohammad Safiq Ansari (Madhya Pradesh), Mohammad Abrar Maniar (Madhya Pradesh).
