Pendency in tablet delivery

Gandhinagar: The distribution of tablets to around 70 thousand eligible students under tablet distribution scheme of year 2019-20 is pending in the state.
The state government has allotted Rs 300 crore in the budget of current year for tablet distribution to the students. The tablets were given to around 1 lakh students in the first phase of 2019-20 academic year after registrations. The tablet distribution later remained pending due to lockdown during covid-19 pandemic. The tablet distribution has remained pending for 2 years after that.
The state government had cancelled the contract given to Chinese company Lenovo for tablets and an Indian company was selected after tendering. However, the company failed in the testing round. The tablet distribution to around 5 lakh eligible students for the years 2020, 2021 and 2022 is pending. DeshGujarat
