Gandhinagar: A video clip of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has gone viral on social media in Pakistan across twitter, whatsapp and other social media platforms. The clip in which PM Modi talks about his decision to auction the gifts as Gujarat Chief Minister for girl child education is attracting admiration and respect in Pakistan in the backdrop of ongoing controversy surrounding former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan who has allegedly kept precious gifts received during his tenure in his personal possession.

In the video clip, PM Modi describes his decision to auction the gifts he received at the public functions as Gujarat Chief Minister and donate the money generated from auction for Girl Child Education.

PM Modi in this viral clip says: “When I left Gujarat, I auctioned those gifts which I received, in public. I donated the fund generated from those auctions to the government for Girl Child Education. Around over Rs 100 crore were generated from auctions, and people also started giving me checks. Whenever I went to attend a function, they used to give me checks for Girl Child Education instead of gift items. This amount was around more than Rs 100 crore, which I donated for Girls’ education.”

The video is viral in Pakistan in the backdrop of controversy surrounding former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have retained all the 112 valuables worth Rs 142.02 million gifted by different countries, according to reports.The foreign gifts were retained either for free or purchased at a throwaway price of Rs 38 million, The Express Tribune reported on Friday. According to the official documents, Imran Khan and his wife retained 52 free gifts worth Rs 800,200 “without paying a single penny”. “Imran Khan sold these gifts for Rs 140 million in Dubai,” Shehbaz Sharif was reported as telling journalists during an Iftar he hosted a day earlier in the federal capital, reported Geo News.
