May 13, 2022
Anand: A social activist from Delhi has filed a police complaint at Chaklasi police station against two individuals for injecting milch cattle with prohibited substances such as oxytocin to augment the milk production capacity of the animals. Hormones such as oxytocin are known to produce harmful effects in both human beings as well as the animals and their use is strictly prohibited.
A cattle farm on the Kanjari Vadtal road in Nadiad taluka was visited by Sunaina Vivek Sibbal from Delhi and Sashikant Purohit from Mumbai on May 7, 2022. Both Sibbal and Purohit with the permission of the men on the cattle farm began inspecting the cattle farm from within.
They found that the cattle were arranged on one side inside the farm and besides them was a plastic bottle and a syringe. When they inquired regarding the bottle and the syringe, a laborer on the cattle farm informed that they were using these injections to augment the milk production capacity of the buffaloes.
The labourer identified himself as Akhilesh Yadav, a resident of Bihar, and the owner of the cattle farm as Sohaibbhai Mohmmedbhai Vohra, a resident of Kanjari. Both Sibbal and Purohit then undertook videography of the cattle farm from within and informed the Chaklasi police that oxytocin, which can harm humans as well as the animals, was being used at the cattle farm to enhance milk production.
Acting on the information, the Chaklasi police have registered a complaint against Akhilesh Yadav and Sohaibbhai Vohra under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals act and launched an investigation into the matter. DeshGujarat
