Mehsana: Independent MLA –turned Congressman Jignesh Mevani and nine others have been granted bail by a Mehsana sessions court on the condition that they will not leave Gujarat without prior permission of the court.
Ten accused including Vadgam MLA Jignesh Mevani were sentenced to 3 months in prison by a Mehsana special court in a case of holding a rally without permission. An appeal challenging the verdict of the Mehsana special court was filed in the Mehsana sessions court. While granting Mevani, Reshma Patel, co-convenor of Rashtriya Dalit Adhikar Manch, Subodh Parmar, and the rest of the accused bail, the court strictly asked them not to leave the state without permission of the court and to also surrender their passports before the court.
An Azadi march had been organized from Mehsana to Dhanera in Banaskantha to mark one year of the flogging of seven persons in Una on the pretext of cow protection. However, an FIR was registered against Jignesh Mevani and a few others for holding the rally without permission. DeshGujarat.
