Vijay Nagar Polo Forest to be closed for tourists for 3-day bear census

Sabarkantha: The Vijay Nagar Polo Forest will remain closed for tourists from June 13 to June 15, to conduct a census of bears.
A notification to this effect was issued by the district collector of Sabarkantha.
The census is conducted at temporary and permanent water points in the respective area based on the assumption that the wild animal will come to quench its thirst at least once in 24 hours during the Summer.
A bear census was last conducted in the state six years ago in 2016. A state-wide fresh census of bears is overdue since May 2022. DeshGujarat.
