Surat lab develops world’s biggest 30-carat lab-grown diamond

Surat: The International Gemological Institute has certified a 30.18-carat lab-grown diamond developed by Carp Impex Lab of Surat as the world’s biggest lab-grown diamond.
Hitherto, a 14-carat lab-grown diamond developed by the same laboratory in 2021 held the status of the world’s biggest lab-grown diamond.
The biggest lab-grown diamond has been obtained by the chemical vapour deposition process, and it has H colour and VS2 clarity.
The diamond took 28 days to be grown in the laboratory.
The popularity of lab-grown diamonds is on the rise, which is reflected in its growing market size. The market for lab-grown diamonds was worth $19.3 billion in 2020, which is expected to rise to $49.9 billion in the coming 10 years.
