AAP receives lot of flak after leaders aggravate stray cattle menace with their actions in Bhavnagar

Bhavnagar: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which is often described as anarchist party by opponents is receiving a lot of flak in Bhavnagar after it chose to make a political issue out of stray cattle that occupy roads in the city with some of its leaders opening the locks of the cattle cage run by the Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation on Wednesday alleging that conditions prevailing inside were terrible.

As many as 760 cows came out on the roads after the AAP leaders forcibly unlocked the gates of the cattle cage near the Airport, endangering human lives.

The problem of stray cows roaming the roads and thoroughfares of Bhavnagar is really grave and instead of working out a solution for it, the AAP has chosen to do politics over it leading to a lot of resentment among the local population.

If the AAP feels that the conditions inside the cattle cages run by the civic body are indeed hostile, they should campaign for improving the conditions. By choosing to release the stray cattle captured as per the instruction of authorities, they have aggravated the menace of stray cattle instead of helping the authorities to tackle it.

Besides, this is also a financial loss to the Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation, which has given a contract to a local organization to capture stray cows roaming on the roads at the rate of Rs 700 per stray cow. As many as 1200 stray cows were captured since September 2021, of which over 700 cows were released yesterday. Thus, the number of cattle on the streets of Bhavnagar has shot up yesterday by 700, which will have to be re-captured and locked up inside the cattle cage for which the civic body would have to shell out Rs 5 lakh once again.
