Water level at Sardar Sarovar Narmada dam crosses half mark

Gandhinagar: Gujarat’s largest Sardar Sarovar Narmada dam achieved above fifty per cent storage of water today at 3.00 pm. The dam had inflow of 56,187 cu secs. The present gross storage as on 3 pm today is 4,730.89 MCM at 118.69 m level against full reservoir level of 138.68 per cent. The dam has been designed for 9,460 MCM gross storage. The outflow at 3 pm today was 622 cusecs in river and 2,486 cusecs in canal.

The scond largest dam of the State which is Ukai in South Gujarat was 66.31 per cent full at 3.00 pm today with inflow of 1,31,858 cusecs. The prescribed rule level till 1st August is 101.50 m against which the present water level is 100.44 m at 3 pm. The dam’s full reservoir level is 101.50 m. The storage in Ukai dam is 4,916.12 MCM which is greater than that in Sardar Sarowar (4,730.89 MCM) at present.

The third largest dam Kadana which has relatively very low design gross storage capacity of 1,249.30 MCM is just 35.13 per cent full of water with inflow of 13,055 cusecs. DeshGujarat
