Unidentified persons possibly from Bajrang Dal rename Gujarat Congress headquarters as Hajj House

Sabarmati: Apparently in reaction to Gujarat Congress chief Jagdish Thakor’s Wednesday remark in which he had said that minorities have first claim on the nation’s treasury, unidentified persons in the morning today reached the State headquarters of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) in Paldi area of the city and named the building as Hajj house, by writing the same using graffiti spray on out wall.

Unidentified persons also pasted posters depicting Gujarat Congress chief Jagdish Thakor wearing a Muslim skull cap. The text in the posters read: Special note – Name has been changed. From today onward this office is renamed from “Gujarat Congress Committee” to “Hajj House” – Jagdish Thakor, President, Hajj House. Bajrang Dal Gujarat.’ One of such green posters was also pasted over Rajiv Gandhi’s statue located in Congress headquarters. The Congress office was locked and such posters were pasted outside its door and elsewhere.

A group of unidentified people which could be from Bajrang Dal also applied black ink over the faces in hoardings outside the State Congress headquarters. They specifically targeted Jagdish Thakor’s photographs on such hoardings.

Those involved in this act arrived before sunrise and left soon after sunrise. The Congress cadres were quick to white wash the graffiti writings on the wall and remove the hoardings that were defaced by alleged Bajrang Dal cadres.

The whole controversy is about Jagdish Thakor’s remarks two-day ago in State Congress’s minority department convention which was attended by party’s Muslim office bearers, cadres and supporters. Jagdish Thakor on Wednesday in his address had recollected the Congress party’s approach that minorities have the first right on the revenue of the country.

Thakor had said – “I state with confidence that congress never makes change in its ideology and never makes a difference in its thoughts. It holds its thoughts when it gets power and Congress didn’t make compromise in its thoughts even when it was uprooted from power. The Prime Minister of the country (Mahmohan Singh) used to state that there is the first right of minorities on the treasury of the country. It was stated by the country’s congress Prime Minister from the peak of power boldly. Congress knows how much damage happened due to that statement. Congress will not make a compromise in its ideology even if such damage happens a thousand times.” DeshGujarat
