One nabbed for impregnating a 14-year-old Hindu female after promising to marry her

Vadodara: Sayajigunj police have nabbed a Mulsim man for allegedly impregnating a 14-year-old Hindu female after promising to marry her, forcing her to sell liquor and torturing her by giving cigarette burns on her hands.

An 18-year-old Hindu female living in the Kalali area filed a complaint at Sayajigunj police station. She stated that the accused Asfaq Saiyad (age 24), living at her sister’s home often had fights with her and told her to sell liquor. She alleged that the accused beat her and gave cigarette burns on both of her hands when she refused to sell liquor. She alleged that the accused had sex with her four years ago after telling her to marry her, following which she became pregnant. She gave birth to a child in Sayaji Hospital but the child remained alive only for a day due to heart issues, as per the complaint.

The Hindu female started living in an Ashram in Ahmedabad after leaving Vadodara due to torture from the accused. She then went with her mother to Rajkot and started living there. After learning about it, her sister, her sister’s mother-in-law and the accused Asfaq came there to take her with them. The accused told her that he won’t beat her, and they will live in a separate house and marry in court. She agreed to go with them after the same.

She went to live there in the first week of January. After 3 months, the accused Asfaq told her to get married at his home and put a garland in her neck. The accused refused when the female asked him to marry in court. The accused Asfaq again started to torture her for selling liquor after some days. So, she departed for Mahipatram Rupram Ashram in Ahmedabad by bus on Friday morning. However, they denied keeping her by telling her that they only allow those who are dropped there by another person. So, she returned to Vadodara.

Sayajigunj Police filed a crime against the accused Asfaqhasan Abbas Naim Saiyad (lives in Subhashnagar slums in Sayajigunj) and nabbed him. The accused was previously nabbed in Arms Act in Ahmedabad in 2016. He is booked for 3 crimes under the Prohibition Act at Sayajigunj police station.

The Hindu female stated that she has studied till class 3. Her father is unemployed and lives in an open space near her sister’s home. Her mother has gone missing for the last few years.

The victim Hindu female had taken refuge at 3 institutes after leaving Vadodara. She departed for her cousin’s home in Vijapur after leaving her sister’s home in Vadodara by bus. She met a lady named Urmilaben in the bus during the journey and shared her problems. The lady dropped her to Sakhi one-stop centre in Gandhinagar after she agreed. She lived there for a day. Then, they dropped her at Matruchhaya Gruh in Gandhinagar sector-12. She lived there for 5 days. She agreed when they asked her to go to another institute. Following which they had dropped her to Mahipatram Rupram Ashram in Ahmedabad where she lived for 3 months.
