BharatNet Project 99% complete in Gujarat: Central Govt

New Delhi: The Ministry of communications on Wednesday informed the Loksabha about the status of the BharatNet Project in Gujarat.
Responding to the question of Navaari MP and BJP Gujarat Chief C R Patil, the Ministry informed that implementation of the BharatNet project to connect all Gram Panchayats is almost complete in Gujarat as 14,191 Gram Panchayats (GPs) out of 14,301 Gram Panchayats are service ready.
Union Minister of State for Communication, Devsinh Chauhan, informed, “BharatNet project is implemented in a phased manner to provide broadband connectivity to all the Gram Panchayats (GPs) in the country including Gujarat.
“So far, 21,791 Fiber to the Home (FTTH) connections and 3,954 Wi-Fi hotspots have been provided in Gujarat”, he added.
Minister also informed that for expediting the implementation of the BharatNet Project, regular review and monitoring of the project is done by the Department of Telecommunications with the implementing agencies.
