PGVCL inks MoU with RECDPL for smart meters roll out in Saurashtra – Kutch

Rajkot: Gujarat government arm PGVCL (Pashchim Gujarat Vij Company Limited) has signed MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with RECPDCL in Delhi for providing 56 lakh smart prepaid meters to Gujarat.
The work of installing smart meters will begin in January 2023 in Saurashtra region by PGVCL. Smart prepaid meters aim to provide many benefits to the power consumers. The customers can regulate their electricity usage by using the meter. The customers can do recharge procedure directly from the mobile app. The new system will help consumers to keep track of real time consumption and bill monitoring.
PGVCL will initially install smart meters in Rajkot, Junagadh, Bhavnagar, Gondal, and Jamnagar from January 2023 in the government offices. Total 23 lakh smart meters will be installed in the first phase and 33 lakh in the second phase. The work will be completed till 2025. The installation of smart meters at Amrut scheme benefitted city, government offices, installation of meters on distribution transformer, installation of feeder meter and so on is included in the first phase of works.
