Sabarmati Riverfront Lower Promenade Walkway reopens for visitors

Sabarmati: Lower Promenade at Sabarmati Riverfront which is also known as walkway has been reopened today morning from 11 am after the level of water in river Sabarmati normalized.
The walkway was declared shut for visitors at 8 pm on Wednesday after a huge water discharge from Dharoi dam. The level of water had remained below the lower promenade during the last 48 hours. According to IK Patel, Executive Director of Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Ltd, the lower promenade has been reopened from 11 am on Friday for visitors. Lower promenade was submerged in 1.25 cusecs flood water released from Dharoi dam lastly in July 2017.
This time, the volume of released water was lower. The government had kept the gates of Vasna barrage opened for release of surplus water and to maintain the level of river Sabarmati below the lower promenade. DeshGujarat
