Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi ranks 1st in the ‘Global Leader Approval’ ratings among world leaders from countries like Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

These ratings are from Morning Consult Political Intelligence which tracks the approval ratings of Government leaders and nation trajectories of countries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has an approval rating of 75 percent, the highest among 22 global leaders polled in the survey conducted by The Morning Consult. In the survey, conducted between August 17, 2022, to August 23, 2022, and released on August 25, PM Modi is ahead of Mexican president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (with 63 percent), Australian Prime Minister Anthony Norman Albanese (58 percent), Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi OMRI (54 percent), Switzerland President Ignazio Cassis (with 52 percent), Sweden Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson (with 50 percent). The list includes Belgium PM Alexander De Croo, Japan PM Fumio Kishida, Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro, US President Joe Biden, etc.

The seven-day moving average of adult citizens of each nation’s various sample sizes is the basis for calculating these approval ratings.

The poll also showed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi enjoyed levels of support, even amid the height of the second wave of the Covid-19 outbreak. Even though there were complaints about how India dealt with it, Indians still thought that the PM Modi-led government gave the pandemic a strong response.
After the Covid-19 pandemic began, PM Modi’s approval rating jumped to 83% in April 2020. During the second wave, it reached 65% and then continued to rise, demonstrating the public’s faith in his mode of governance.

Yoon Seok-Youl (South Korea), the leader with the lowest approval rating among those rated, had a rating of 21%. Boris Johnson of the UK, who is about to leave office, was third from last with a 25% approval rating. Mexico’s Lopez Obrador, who received 63% of the vote, was the second-place finisher behind Prime Minister Modi.
