SMC opens a new shelter for homeless people, set up under Centre’s scheme

Surat: City mayor Hemali Boghawala dedicated a shelter developed by Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) for homeless people in Varachha zone ‘A’ area of Surat.
SMC has set up this shelters at a cost of Rs 4.40 crore after refurbishment and extension in the old office building of Surat located at Magob Dumbhal in transport godown in front of Amazia water park at Parvat patiya in Varachha Zone A area of city. The shelter for homeless has been developed under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana- National Urban Livelihood Mission (DAY-NULM).
The shelter has facilities such as 500 beds, dormitory rooms, family room, space for washing and drying clothes, filtered water, mattress, bedsheet, locker, solar geyser, and so on. DeshGujarat
