Gujarat govt to provide free dialysis service in each district

Gandhinagar: Gujarat government’s Spokesperson minister Jitu Vaghani today said, the State government will soon provide free of cost dialysis service in all 252 talukas of the State. He said then Chief Minister Narendrabhai Modi had in year 2013 started the programme of availing one dialysis centre in every 30 to 40 km radius of the State under the title – Gujarat Dialysis Programme.

At present 82 free dialysis centres are functional and new 162 centres are in progress. More than 672 dialysis machines are functional and more than 17 lakh people have been benefitted so far. The government also offers Rs. 300 financial assistance for transportation fare to reach the dialysis centre under PM – Jan Aarogya Yojana.

Vaghani said the government has also started a mobile dialysis van. He said all the centres under this programme will have uniform facility. The centres are functional under the Institute of Kidney Diseases & Research Centre (IKDRC), Ahmedabad. DeshGujarat
