Gujarat to soon have zone-wise organ transplant centers: Rushikesh Patel

State Health Minister Rushikesh Patel, on Wednesday, informed that Gujarat would soon have zone-wise organ transplant centers. Patel was presiding over felicitation even organized at the Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC).
Patel said, “The transplant is covered under various schemes by the government. We also recognize the work done by the health workers and volunteers.”
“It’s an occasion to thank families who have given a new lease of life to ailing patients with the biggest donation possible,” said Patel, adding that the state government would strengthen the organ donation programs.
The State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) organized an event to mark the 90th birth anniversary of IKDRC founder Dr. H L Trivedi where they felicitated 102 families who had consented to cadaver organ donations after their family members were declared brain dead.
Gujarat BJP Chief C R Patil, ACS (Health) Manoj Aggarwal, and senior officials of IKDRC, SOTTO, and Civil Hospital were also present at the event.
