Shipping minister pays site visit to National Maritime Heritage Complex project at Lothal

Lothal: The National Maritime Heritage Complex at Lothal will be the largest of its kind in the world and exhibit India’s proud maritime heritage, said union shipping minister Sarbananda Sonowal during his visit to Lothal, Gujarat.

The minister monitored ongoing construction of the National Maritime Heritage Complex at Lothal on September 12 and said that the works (of current phase) shall be over in the next one year. The project shall generate direct and indirect employment for thousands of people, he said.

At the historic Indus Valley civilisation region of Lothal in Gujarat, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways is building the National Maritime Heritage Complex. The foundation stone for the NMHC project was laid by Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi and the consent for the master plan was given in March 2019.

The project is planned to be completed in three phases: 1. Phase 1A, 2. Phase 1B 3. Phase 2. The first two phases Phase 1A and Phase 1B will be completed in EPC mode and Phase 2 will be completed in PPP mode. Total cost of the NMHC project including EPC and PPP mode is Rs. 3,500 Crores, as informed by union shipping minister Sarbananda Sonowal. DeshGujarat
