PM Narendrabhai Modi to lay foundation stone and announce Rs. 8000 crore works from Tharad

Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay foundation stone and announce various development works worth ₹8034 crore from Tharad in Banaskantha on 31st October 2022. A majority of the works are related to water supply in the district. Prime Minister Modi, as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, took various noteworthy decisions to make Gujarat a water sufficient and surplus state.

To realise this vision, Government of Gujarat led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has taken important steps in the last one year.

Foundation stone and announcement of various projects such as construction of pipelines, distribution canals, additional water storage facilities in villages, as well as construction of new barrages from Tharad will be done. These decisions have been taken to solve the water crisis in North Gujarat. Farmers will reap huge benefits in the coming days.

Foundation stone of various works:

Kasara-Dantiwada Pipeline

• New pipeline of Narmada main canal from Kasra (Ta. Harij, Dist. Patan) to Dantiwada.

• Nearly 4200 farmers in 7500 hectares of 74 villages of Banaskantha and 32 villages of Patan to reap benefits

• Estimated cost ₹ 1566 crore

Dindrol-Mukhteshwar Pipeline

• New Pipeline from Dindrol (Ta. Siddhpur, Dist. Patan) to Dantiwada.

• Nearly 1700 farmers in 3000 hectares of 25 villages of Banaskantha and 5 villages of Patan to reap benefits

• Estimated cost ₹ 191 crore

Suigam Direct Distributary

• Plan to construct new distributary to provide irrigation facility in cultivable area 22 villages in Banaskantha.

• Length of distributary 34 km.

• Nearly 7500 farmers in 14700 hectares to benefit

• Estimated cost ₹ 88 crore

Water Supply Scheme for Kankrej, Diodar and Patan

• Works to increase water storage capacity to be undertaken

• Nearly 3.02 lakh people of 100 villages will be benefited

• Estimated cost ₹ 13 crore

Announcement of various developmental works worth more than ₹6000 crore

Augmentation works of Sujalam Sufalam Canals

• A 332 km long canal will be constructed from Kadana Dam to Rah village in Banaskantha. This will allow water of nearly 2000 to be easily transported over long distances.

• Estimated cost of canal and augmentation works: ₹ 1500 crore.

• Benefits : 1111 lakes and 3.7 lakh acres of land, nearly 1.25 lakh farmers of 661 villages

Atal Bhujal Scheme and Underground Recharge and Waste Water Re-use works

• Waste water reuse, check dam deepening and repair works in ponds, tube wells etc. will be started in 2000 villages of 6 districts. It will indirectly benefit 50,000 hectares of land

• Total works worth ₹ 1100 crore, area to be benefited – 1,10,000 hectares, estimated beneficiaries – 65,000 farmers.

Construction of 4 new barrages on Sabarmati river

• 14000 hectares of land and nearly 10,000 farmers to be benefited

• 39 villages in 5 talukas of Mehsana, Sabarkantha and Gandhinagar to reap benefits.
• Estimated cost: ₹ 1000 crore

Dharoi, Vatrak, Meshwo and Hatmati Reservoir Based Conveyance Irrigation Schemes

• Replenishment of lakes of Malpur, Meghraj and Modasa talukas by pumping from Vatrak Reservoir

• 182 ponds in 7 talukas will be operationalised at an estimated cost of ₹ 700 crore

• 6150 hectare area will benefit from irrigation. Nearly 11,000 farmers to reap benefits.

Lake connection works through existing and new pipelines

• Estimated cost of ₹ 625 crore.

• 99 lakes in Dhanera, Deodar and Chansma talukas to reap benefits

• 10,000 hectares of land to reap benefits. Nearly 5000 farmers will also reap benefits

Extension of Modhera Motidau Pipeline to Mukteshwar – Karmawat Lake

• A total area of 6000 hectares of 33 villages in Mehsana and 64 villages and 4000 farmers in Banaskantha will be benefited

• Main pipeline length 65 km, carrying capacity of 200 cusecs

• Estimated cost ₹550 crore.

Operationalisation of large check dams on Khari, Rupen, Pushpavati and other rivers

• Operationalisation of a total of 3 check dams on river Khari,13 on river Pushpavati,18 on river Rupen, 12 on river Meshvo and 10 in Data and Amirgarh talukas. A total of 56 check dams.

• Total cost – ₹ 430 crore

• 5000 hectares and 9000 farmers will be benefited.

Plan to fill lakes of Malana and 31 other villages with Balaram Small Irrigation Scheme

• Total cost – ₹ 145 crore.

• 3400 hectares and 4500 farmers to be benefited

Pipeline scheme for 11 villages of Santalpur taluka

• Estimated amount of ₹ 126 Crore and 8300 hectares of land to be benefited

• Approximately 4500 farmers of 11 villages will be benefited
