AMC Seals Eatery on CG Road After Customer Finds Dead Lizard in Food

Ahmedabad: The Food Department of the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has sealed a food outlet on C.G. Road in Navrangpura after a customer allegedly found a dead lizard in a food item served by the establishment.
According to an official press note issued by the AMC, the action was taken after a complainant informed the civic body at around 12:30 pm today, stating that a dead lizard was found in a dish of chanapuri ordered from Wah Pizza & Bhel House, located at Municipal Market, C.G. Road, Navrangpura.

Acting on the complaint, a Food Safety Officer (FSO) from the AMC’s Health Department inspected the food unit under the provisions of the FSSAI and GPMC Acts. During the inspection, the complainant reportedly showed a photograph of the food item in which the lizard was found. Officials stated that the complaint was verified during the on-site inspection.
The inspection also revealed serious hygiene violations at the restaurant, including significant dirt and live insects inside the deep freezer on the premises.
Based on these deficiencies and in the interest of public health, AMC officials sealed the food unit with immediate effect for an indefinite period, the press note said. DeshGujarat
