Morbi Bridge Collapse : Action will be taken against guilty, PM tells deceased’s kin

Morbi: Prime Minister Modi while meeting with the kin of deceased people in Morbi Bridge Collapse yesterday, assured them that strong action will be taken against the people who are guilty. He also directed an extensive and transparent inquiry into the calamity.

Rajesh Surana (43) is a driver by profession who lost his 19-year-old son in the tragedy told the media that the PM assured him that action will be taken against all those responsible. “PM saheb’s words eased my pain,” the inconsolable father added.

The grieving father said that his son Sandeep had gone up the hanging bridge along with his three friends and all of them died in the massive tragedy. Rajesh, who drives cars of his regular customers, went to drop his son near the bridge before he proceeded on a trip to Ravapar. Only to get a call later from his brother that the bridge collapsed.

Surana also informed that after calling his son and his friends he first rushed to the bridge site later to hospital and at last he he could identify the body of his child at 12 midnight.

PM Modi also chaired a meeting in Morbi, Gujarat to review the situation in the wake of the unfortunate bridge mishap there.

PM said that the authorities must stay in touch with the affected families and ensure that they receive all possible help in this tragic hour.

Officials briefed the Prime Minister on the rescue ops and the assistance provided to those affected.

Prime Minister said the need of the hour is to conduct a detailed and extensive inquiry which will identify all aspects relating to this mishap. He also added that the key learnings from the inquiry must be implemented at the earliest.
