October 10, 2023
Ahmedabad: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has submitted a comprehensive 5,000-page investigation report today to the Gujarat High Court concerning the collapse of the Morbi Cable Bridge.
The report points out that all Oreva company personnel responsible for the bridge’s operation and maintenance are implicated in this incident. According to the SIT report, individuals such as Oreva MD Jaysukh Patel, Manager Dinesh Dave, and Manager Deepak Parekh are accountable for the incident.
The repost also states that there were no restrictions on the number of people allowed on the bridge. Furthermore, no fitness report was prepared before the bridge’s opening, and the Oreva company did not seek input from the municipality. Ticket sales were also allowed without restrictions. The report also underscores the alarming lack of security equipment and personnel on the bridge.
Previously, the internal investigation report had also unveiled significant revelations. Now, this report has also attributed responsibility to individuals, including the Managing Director and Manager of the Oreva company, for the bridge collapse. In response to the Morbi cable bridge disaster, the state government had established a committee to conduct an investigation.
It’s worth noting that the suspension bridge over the Machhu river in Morbi collapsed on the evening of October 30th last year. The tragic incident resulted in hundreds of people falling into the river, and several lost their lives. According to government figures, a total of 135 people lost their lives in this incident. The maintenance of this bridge was entrusted to the Oreva Group. DeshGujarat
