Medical Evacuation of Foreign National by Indian Coast Guard off Gujarat Coast

Kutch: Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Ship C-408 undertook medical evacuation of a foreign national from Arabian Sea on Wednesday. The patient was safely brought to Jakhau and shifted to Govt Hospital, Naliya.
On Wednesday, 02 November 20 22, at about 11:30 AM, ICG Station, Jakhau received distress call about medical emergency onboard Liberian Flagged Merchant Vessel Protector St. John which was on passage from Pipavav to Qatar. The position of the Merchant Vessel was ascertained and ICG fast Interceptor Ship, C-408 was directed to proceed with maximum speed from Jakhau. The ICG Ship made a rendezvous with merchant vessel at 1:00 PM. The 29 years old Philippines national was observed to be sick and vomiting blood. The patient was evacuated and taken onboard ICG Ship. Immediate medical relief was provided by ICG medical team. The Ship alongwith patient entered back Jakhau Harbour at 3:00 PM. Post necessary medical management by Station Medical Team of ICGS Jakhau, the patient was transferred to Govt Hospital, Naliya for further medical management.
This is the third medical evacuation by ICG team in Northern Arabian Sea in last five days. The effective coordination, alertness and prompt response of ICG was instrumental in timely evacuation and saving of these precious lives.
