Former Congress MLA Kaminiba Rathod joins BJP

Gandhinagar: Former Congress legislator Kaminiba Rathod today joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with her supporters. Kaminiba was a Congress MLA from the Dahegam seat of North Gujarat during 2012-2017. She had won the election on a Congress party ticket in 2012 with 2,297 vote margin. She lost the 2017 polls to the BJP candidate by a 10,860 vote margin.
Kaminiba had on Tuesday resigned from the primary membership of the Congress party after withdrawing her candidature from the upcoming Gujarat Assembly elections as an independent. In the election scheduled for December 5, she was a contender for the Assembly seat, but the party denied a ticket to her.
According to Gujarat BJP’s General Secretary Pradipsinh Vaghela, former Municipality chief, former city unit party chief, former district panchayat chairman, district party general secretary, and various current, ex-Sarpanchs among others have also joined BJP today with Kaminiba.
Later Rathod alleged that the party leaders sold out tickets for Rs 1 crore and she also released an audio clip, about her conversation with them in which she is negotiating for tickets and ready to pay money.
Another Congress leader from Mehsana A.J. Patel has also quit the Congress party and joined BJP.
