Live streaming of lower court’s proceedings to begin soon

Gandhinagar: In a Pilot Project set to commence soon, 33 courts, including 32 principal district judges and Ahmedabad’s city civil court, will live-stream proceedings for citizens.
Gujarat High-court started this practice, followed by other high courts and the apex court, now the lower courts will follow the suit.
Upon High Court’s direction, the courts have been provided with the required hardware and installations. The Chief Justice and the IT committee of the High Court have made the Guidelines and Standard operating procedures (SOP) for recording and live-streaming proceedings.
Cameras in courtrooms will cover the bench, advocates, and the accused and witnesses, said the circular issued by HC.
The live stream will be stopped in the case related to Matrimony, child custody & adoption, sexual offenses, and gender-based offenses against women, proceeding under POSCO Act and the Juvenile Justice act, etc.
