VMC proposes hike in Property tax and new Environment Tax

Baroda: Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), in its budget 2023-24 on Friday, proposed to increase the annual property tax to ₹20 per sq m from ₹16 per sq m. The civic body also plans to impose a new environmental tax.
For Non-residential properties, a hike of ₹5 per sq m is proposed in the existing ₹30 per sq m.
The Vadodara civic body has presented its biggest-ever budget of ₹ 4761 crore. If approved, the Envionmal tax will generate a revenue of about ₹4 crores.
Commissioner of VMC Banncha Nidhi Pani told the media that the proposed hike in property tax will generate additional income of ₹70 crores for the civic body. DeshGujarat
