Gujarat govt plans a metropolitan committee for Amdavad and Gandhinagar
January 31, 2023
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government is considering instituting a committee to coordinate the civic body of the twin cities Amdavad and Gandhinagar.
As soon as the committee is formed, it will be responsible for synchronizing the development projects of Ahmedabad municipal corporation (AMC), Gandhinagar municipal corporation (GMC), as well as villages and towns under Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar urban development authorities (AUDA & GUDA).
Even though there is no official announcement on this, the sources in the urban development department said that the committee will act as a coordinator between civic bodies without infringing on their autonomy.
First planned in 2009, the metropolitan area planning committee (MAPA) will come into existence after an advisory committee studies the existing metropolitan authorities in Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad-Secunderabad. DeshGujarat
