February 06, 2023
Gandhinagar: In a move that is being admired largely, IPS Hasmukh Patel, Additional DGP of Gujarat Police has been handed over the responsibility of Gujarat Panchayat Seva Pasandagi Mandal (Gujarat Panchayat Services Selection Board), a recruitment body responsible for filling vacancies in the Panchayat department of the State government. Patel last year conducted the recruitment process involving over 3 lakh aspirants for vacancies in the Police department successfully and in a transparent manner. He has been now given additional charge of GPSSB ahead of crucial recruitment exam involving over 9.l5 lakh applicants.
Over 9.5 lakh youths registered to appear in the exam for vacant posts of Junior clerks in the Panchayat department last year. However, the exam had to be called off last month, hours before its scheduled time due to a leak of paper from the printing press in Hyderabad. After joining the Panchayat recruitment body as its in-charge chief, Hasmukh Patel said that the State Board exams are scheduled between 14 to 29 March, and therefore the postponed exam for the posts of Junior Clerks may take place in April. He however clarified that this is an estimated plan at this stage.
Patel is active on Twitter and known for addressing the concerns of the aspirants in advance. Known as an upright officer, Patel held a meeting with GPSSB officials. Patel in replies to media queries stated that the State government was recently holding meetings in the presence of former GPSC Chairman Dinesh Dasa, and State Police’s in charge chief Vikas Sahay among others over concerns regarding holding the postponed exam for the posts of Junior Clerks successfully.
