Gujarat HC stays further progress of Chotila ropeway project

Ahmedabad: Gujarat High Court today issued an interim order to stop the work of the proposed ropeway at Chotila Chamunda temple till further hearing.
The high court was hearing a plea by Shree Chamunda Mataji Dungar Trust against the state government’s decision to award the contract to a firm that is inexperienced in ropeway construction.
The trust submitted in the court that if the plea is dismissed then this is another Morbi tragedy in making.
The state government in 2011 awarded the contract to Mars Entertainment Pvt Ltd. after following the provisions of the Gujarat Aerial Ropeways Act and an advertisement inviting expression of interest was published adequately, counsel representing Mars Entertainment submitted in court.
The HC posted the further hearing of the matter on February 16.
