111 ft Golden idol of Shiv in Sursagar lake to be unveiled on upcoming Maha Shivratri

Vadodara: A 111 ft tall idol of Sarveshwar Mahadev in the middle of Sursagar lake in Vadodara has been converted golden from the outside. The golden idol will be unveiled in the evening on Maha Shivratri at 7.15 pm. A total of 17.5 kg of gold has been used for the golden conversion of the idol which is in a way identity of Vadodara city. Maha Shivratri falls on 18 February. According to local MLS Yogesh Patel who took up this project with the financial support of donors including NRI donors, the city of Vadodara will witness Shivji ki Swari starting from Ranmukteshwar Mahadev on Shivratri at 3.30 pm.
The savari procession will reach Sursagar lake at 7 pm. A Maha aarti will be performed at 7.15 pm and along with that, the golden idol will be unveiled. The golden conversion involves Rs. 12 lakh expenditure for which Dr. Kiran Patel (America), Shreyas Shah, Piyush Shah, Mayank Patel, Nilesh Shukla, and other donors made contributions. The golden conversion project kicked on on 5 August 2020 on the same day when Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi had launched the works for the construction of Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. A 111 ft Sarveshar Mahadev idol first was covered by zinc plating and after that, the skillful artists from Odisha coated it with a golden layer. DeshGujarat
